Organisations for Help
There are multiple organisations around New Zealand that are here to help you or a person close to you who has experienced sexual violence. WELLINGTON sexual abuse help foundation
Wellington Sexual Abuse HELP works with survivors of sexual abuse and their whānau - of any age, gender or ethnicity. They provide a 24 hour crisis line. They also provide support and counselling services for anyone who has experienced rape or sexual abuse, or who is concerned about a friend or family member.
Auckland sexual abuse help foundation
The counsellors working at Auckland HELP are women trained in dealing with issues arising from sexual abuse or rape. They are skilled in dealing with people of various ethnic, sexual and religious orientations and can provide referrals to complementary services for more ongoing support.
MOSAIC
MOSAIC is a Wellington-based registered charity and support agency for male survivors of sexual and child abuse in New Zealand. Their purpose is to empower male survivors of sexual abuse in their recovery process, and to work towards changing the way the community views sexual abuse of Kiwi males.
WoMEN’S REFUGE
Women’s Refuges around New Zealand provide education programmes and support services, information and safe housing to women, young people and children experiencing abuse. Women’s Refuges also provide advice to concerned family and friends.
WELLINGTON RAPE CRISIS
Wellington Rape Crisis was established by a group of women to create a support network for women survivors of rape and sexual abuse. Today, they are a registered charity who provide support to women and gender diverse survivors of sexual violence.
Shine (Auckland)
Shine Auckland aims to make homes in New Zealand domestic violence free. Shine services provide help for those who have experienced domestic violence through a helpline, advocacy and women’s refuges as well as children exposed to domestic violence. They also provide training for males who have perpetrated violence in the home.
Sexual Abuse Prevention Network
Sexual Abuse Prevention Network (SAPN) have the vision of our communities being free from sexual abuse and sexual violence. They provide effective prevention in communities through programmes targeted at supporting social and behavioural change.
Rainbow Youth
RainbowYOUTH is an organisation dedicated to helping young queer and gender diverse (LGBTIQ) people up to the ages of 27, as well as the wider community. This organisation provides peer-support groups, advocacy, drop-in centre, information, consultation, support and training and youth development.
Youthline
Youthline works with young people, their families and those supporting young people. They were established to ensure young people know where to get help and can access support when they need it. Youthline offers support through text, email and phone.
safe to talk
Safe To Talk offer free confidential contact with a trained specialist to those who have experienced any form of sexual harm and/or those who believe someone close to them has been harmed. Safe To Talk specialists can be contacted online, over the phone, text or email.
